What We Do
From big festivals to classroom surprises, the Tarwater PTO shows their enthusiasm by putting together over 100 events throughout the school year. Here are just a few of our favorite highlights!
School Traditions
01
Meet The Teacher

Opportunity to meet the teacher, get supplies list, find out how you can donate to the classroom (supplies, time, etc.) and purchase spirit wear for the new year.
02
Toro Spirit FridaysÂ

Wear your Spirit wear shirts, or Toro colors (blue & silver) on Fridays!
03
Pumpkin Decorating

Join your student during their grade's assigned time slot for a fun family painting session. Please brainstorm design concepts with your child beforehand and bring your own crafting supplies. Whether you plan a highly creative, researched masterpiece or a classic, traditional look, we can't wait to see your family's creation!
04
STEM Festival

Join family and friends for an unforgettable day packed with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math! We’ll have delicious food, exciting games, massive inflatables, great music, and tons of fun. Learn More
05
Fine Dining

It's time for our students to dress to the nines! Children love dressing up for this special occasion in their favorite fancy attire. This wonderful Tarwater tradition treats students to a formal "family-style" meal shared alongside their closest friends. To make the experience even more magical, our Student Council will be dressed as waiters to help serve the meals!
06
Jingle Jog

Get ready for a festive fun run, jog, or walk through the school neighborhood! To keep it age-appropriate, older students will tackle a longer route while younger students enjoy a shorter path. Kids are encouraged to dress up in their grade-level color (Red, Green, or White) and accessorize with festive winter hats, holiday hair bows, and fun accessories! To ensure a secure and fun experience, dedicated staff and parent volunteers will be stationed along the entire route to guide and cheer on our participants.
07
Spring Art Walk & Picnic

A lunchtime picnic lunch in the School courtyard, specific times for each grade, with Art Masterpiece Art showcase around campus. Bring a blanket, chairs, or something to sit on. Seating and shade can be a premium so come prepared for an outdoor picnic.
08
Teacher Appreciation Week

Join us for a weeklong celebration dedicated to our incredible teachers and staff! Ahead of the event, we will send out a fun weekly theme along with daily gift suggestions. Please note these are entirely optional. You are encouraged to show your appreciation in whatever way feels right for your family. All gestures are deeply valued, especially handwritten notes of gratitude from students! Financial donations are also accepted and may be tax-deductible.
09
Tar-WATER Day

We wrap up an amazing school year with the coolest celebration ever! Thanks to our incredible PTO, we turn up the fun with epic water slides, awesome water toys, and a fantastic crew of volunteers. Grab your sunscreen, pack your towels, and let’s make a splash to celebrate all of our students' hard work!
Tarwater PTO and Classroom Funding
The Tarwater PTO has demonstrated extraordinary generosity by funding over 40 distinct types of educational items, programs, and resource sets. The funding covers a wide spectrum of school life, expanding both academic tools and recreational equipment:
Grade-Level Specific Impact
The PTO's generosity spans every single grade level from early childhood to middle school graduation:

Pre-K & Kindergarten: Early learning tools like Farm Unit supplies, All About Me posters, and birthday crowns.
Â
1st & 2nd Grades: Support for core literacy and science via phonics items, science project materials (seeds, dirt, clocks), and country report books.
Â
3rd & 4th Grades: Creative and collaborative experiences through magnetic STEM blocks, an End of Year pizza party, grandparents day snacks, and biography books for Wax Museum projects.
Â
5th & 6th Grades: Career and developmental milestones, including chemical reaction STEM experiment kits, t-shirts and Ozobot robots for fashion/graphic design programs, class donuts, and end-of-year milestone celebrations like Bahama Bucks and the traditional 6th Grade Clap Out.
School-Wide & Core Department Reach
Every student at Tarwater benefits from school-wide additions, including a $1,000 Art Masterpiece supply boost, brand new P.E. equipment (such as sound systems and sports gear), Music program rhythm materials, ten new event tables, LED classroom light covers, and Scholastic subscriptions. Specialized school zones like the Health Office (lost tooth holders), Counselors Office (fidget toys, Lego sets, and cushions), and Media Center (STEM Maker Space) also received major upgrades.

Specialized Program Reach
Students in specialized tracks received major cultural and academic investments, notably a brand-new illuminated dragon costume for the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program to elevate community festival performances.
